edgyasasatsuma:

couldn’t do this thursday because i was getting ready for a trip. but i’ve found tons of things i love here in italy!

- night time bike rides.

- spalmella.

- 99 cent grandpa slippers. i’m wearing mine right now.

- packing everything needed for ONE WEEK (weekend to weekend, so 10 days) of vacation in ONE bookbag.

- having the woman working at airport security compliment you on your packing skills.

- fresh gnocchi.

- gelato. who’s with me?!

- pasta.

- spending 20 minutes fighting with a very stubborn wine bottle. didn’t love it at the time, but it sure is funny now.

- free museums.

- being able to catch a bus to catch my train to catch my plane to catch my other bus to catch my other train without a single problem. i love public transportation.

- spending my vacation in ONE place having tons of fun as opposed to spending my vacation in 11 different places and being completely stressed the whole time.

- the italian countryside. before friday, i hadn’t seen countryside since i moved to europe.

- espresso. i’m hooked. and i know how to make it now.

- making postcards. want one?

ANNIE IS HERE! We have been having a lovely time since she arrived. Friday was pretty grey and rainy, so we hung out inside, but Saturday we made a trip to Bologna!

I wasn’t sure how I would feel about Bologna, but overall I really enjoyed the city. We went to an enormous street market, ate DELICIOUS homemade gnocchi with ragu sauce and followed lunch with gelato (always a good idea)! Once we were energized we started to explore the historic center. By far, the best aspect of being a tourist in Bologna, is that a fair amount of the sites are FREE! That’s right, my favorite price: free. We went inside the palace, in which we viewed two modern photography exhibits, and the Bologna Public gallery (classical art). We toured the duomo, the fifth largest in Italy, (it would have been larger than St. Peter’s in Rome, but building was halted upon orders to build a university instead). The church was breathtaking inside! Finally, we ended at the Archeology Museum, and wandered back to the train to head home to Ferrara.

When we got home, we did some shopping, made dinner, FAILED at opening a wine bottle for about 10 minutes, then went on a nighttime bike ride through the city before catching up with Carter and his friend Jamie. I am so excited to be sharing my life abroad with Annie- hopefully there will be more fun adventures to come!

Pictures coming soon!
